Summer Durrant

E-Resources Librarian

As the E-Resources Librarian, Summer Durrant is responsible for managing the standard collections renewal process and opt-in subscriptions for member libraries. She works closely with member libraries to provision access to new products, manage e-resources throughout their lifecycle, and troubleshoot access issues. She supports the work of the Collections Committee and helps coordinate the annual Collections Forum.

Prior to joining VIVA, Summer held various roles in academic libraries in Virginia, including the Head of Collections and Assessment at the University of Mary Washington, where she led the Collection Services department and oversaw collection development, acquisitions, and e-resources management. At the University of Virginia, she served as the Data & Geographical Information Librarian and assisted researchers with discovering research datasets and using licensed research software.

Summer has published articles in Against the Grain and Collection Management and presented at various conferences on topics related to collection development and library assessment. She holds master's degrees in Library Science and African Studies from Indiana University Bloomington and a bachelor's degree in International Studies from Old Dominion University.
