Resource Sharing

No single library can have everything that everyone needs. In Virginia, academic libraries work together through the VIVA consortium to share their collections so that students, faculty, and staff can access materials at no cost to them. The VIVA community helps facilitate that work by sharing best practices, professional development, and guidelines for programs like interlibrary loan, cooperative borrowing, and shared print collection initiatives. VIVA members leverage their statewide collections and bargaining power to support research and innovation while lowering costs for Virginia libraries.
