Third Iron LibKey

We are excited to announce that VIVA has a new agreement with Third Iron that will enable participating institutions to implement LibKey technology in their libraries.

SUMMARY: Users face common barriers when trying to access library resources, such as broken links, confusing link resolver menus, being linked to retracted articles, hitting paywalls, and more. Third Iron's LibKey technology is being used by 1,600+ libraries to resolve these problems and to streamline access for their users.

LibKey can be integrated into discovery services, used in databases, installed as a browser extension, and integrated into other services like reading lists. Serving as a solution to complex access problems, LibKey saves researchers time, reduces the load on the help desk, preserves scholarly integrity, and decreases unnecessary ILL requests, while meeting the expectations of students, faculty, and researchers.

INSTITUTIONS AFFECTED: All public institutions have access to this resource. Discounted pricing for private institutions will be sent to Collection Development contacts. Please let us know if your institution would like to opt in by August 26, 2024.

EFFECTIVE DATE: September 1, 2024

IMPLEMENTATION: Third Iron representatives will be coordinating with VIVA Central and member libraries directly on the implementation and rollout of LibKey.
