VIVA Broadens Open Access for Virginia with a New Rockefeller University Press Agreement in 2022

VIVA has signed a read and publish deal with Rockefeller University Press (RUP) – the first of its kind outside of Europe.  This is a two year agreement, beginning January 1, 2022 and running through December 31, 2023. Information about the agreement is available here; please note that a Read & Publish guide for authors is linked from this page as well.

The new agreement includes for all participating institutions (currently all public institutions, Eastern Virginia Medical School, and Liberty University):

  • Unlimited access to all content published in RUP’s three hybrid journalsJournal of Cell Biology (JCB), Journal of Experimental Medicine (JEM), and Journal of General Physiology (JGP)—immediately after publication.
  • 100% coverage of research article publication fees for corresponding authors, with no limit to the number of articles that may be published immediate open access.  Upon submission of their manuscript, the corresponding author will be asked to validate their institution, and it will be matched to its Research Organization Registry (ROR) ID.  The RUP production system will then verify if the author’s institution’s ROR ID is eligible for an OA agreement. The articles being published as immediate open access will be published under a CC-BY license, directly deposited to PubMed Central (PMC) and subsequently to Europe PMC, and archived in LOCKSS/CLOCKSS and Portico.
