VIVA: Lending Electronic Articles

Virginia's Academic Library Consortium

This guide has variable layouts and houses the majority of the "sub" pages for VIVA's website.

VIVA Best Practices in Electronic Articles

OCLC Article Exchange (VIVA recommended)

Lending institutions may use Article Exchange as a method of secure electronic transmission of PDF, TIFF, and other files. The site generates a unique tinyURL and password for each file which then must be shared via note or email with the borrowing institution. Any borrower, regardless of whether or not they use WorldShare, Tipasa, or ILLiad, can access the Article Exchange site.

ODYSSEY

Odyssey Standalone is a method of secure electronic transmission of PDFs to and from Odyssey and ILLiad sites, or other programs supporting the Odyssey protocol. Files are imported or may be directly scanned into the Standalone client. Odyssey offers basic editing tools which may be used on images sent or received.
