ILL Community Forum

The VIVA Resource Sharing Committee and ILL Subcommittee host an ILL Community Forum every year. The Forum provides an opportunity for ILL and Administrative personnel at VIVA institutions to discuss VIVA Interlibrary Loan issues and learn about trends and new developments nationally as well as internationally.

ILL Community Forum 2019

The 2019 ILL Community Forum will be held on Friday, July 12th at the Shenandoah Valley Conference Center in Harrisonburg.  Heidi Nance of Ivy Plus will be this year’s keynote speaker, discussing the topic of her vision for the future of consortial sharing.  The forum will also include the popular “Best Practices” interactive session, a session on VIVA Whole Ebook Lending, and a session on what breaking up the Big Deal means for ILL practitioners. Hotel Details

If you are traveling overnight, rooms have been reserved at the Hotel Madison, 710 S. Main Street, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.  You will need to make your reservations by June 11th; after that the VIVA block will be released. A parking map for the hotel is available here:

To book online using their website, go to Click Reserve Now to select your dates of stay and click the words SELECT AN OPTION.  Select Group Code, enter  the code ­­­­­­VIVA19, then click Reserve Now again. You will be taken to a screen where you can select your room type and enter payment details. You can also call 540-564-0200 and say you are making reservations for the VIVA ILL Forum 2019 and the dates you will be staying at the hotel.

As a reminder, VIVA travel guidelines state that VIVA can only reimburse overnight stays for those coming from more than 2 1/2 hours away.  You are welcome to use the group rate, however, regardless of travel distance.  If not covered by VIVA travel we recommend checking with your local institution to see if they will reimburse an overnight stay.
