Travel:

VIVA will reimburse VIVA members from both public and private institutions for travel to and from this meeting.

Travelers needing to stay overnight must submit IN ADVANCE a travel authorization form to the VIVA office (viva@gmu.edu). (See a sample authorization form here.) Lodging reimbursements for one-day events are typically only approved when the traveler resides more than a two and a half hour drive from the event venue.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hotel Madison, attached to the Shenandoah Conference Center where the Forum will be held. Individuals are responsible for their own reservations and cancellations. To make a reservation please click on this link and enter to the group code VIVAILL18. Reservations must be received by 6/12/2018 in order to receive the group rate. After 6/13/2018 the group block will be released back to the general inventory of the hotel and the group rate will be accepted on a space-available basis only.

Parking & Directions:

The parking garage is located directly behind the hotel and is accessible via Martin Luther King Jr Way. A pdf of the parking map is here. (The entrance off of Mason Street WILL NOT allow you to access the Hotel Madison and Shenandoah Valley Conference Center parking, you must use the Martin Luther King Way entrance.)

For those staying overnight, the hotel recommends you come to the front entrance, check in, and then proceed to the parking deck. That way your guest key will allow you to access the garage. For those arriving the day of, please use the Martin Luther King Jr Way entrance. You will pay for your own parking in the garage or at the front desk, whichever is your preference. VIVA will reimburse you for your parking expenses.
